Monday 24th January – bike *** – short Two Rivers, Orwell to the Deben – gloomy, cold and still.

Was tempted to head somewhere to catch the sunrise especially as there was little wind but it was very cloudy so stayed in bed, lucky we did as it remained gloomy and cold all day only reaching 4 degrees! On a brighter note I discovered I got a pic in the local paper, the EADT my first of the year! The morning was spent at home, me doing my exercises while Mag had a big cooking session. Then around one we made a flask for our cuppa soup and biked down to the pier at Landguard via Langer Park. I made a detour to the view point to see the Ever Drone in the final stages of docking before continuing to meet up with Mag for our warming soup. Not much action on the Orwell, the odd boat but the were several cormarants heading back to Loompit Lake near Levington, plus the odd gull and a turn stone. It was too cold to sit there too long so we set off back through the reserve with loads of rabbits. Back on the prom the sea was like a mill pool but grey was the predominant colour! Again, there were several turn stones who don’t seem to mind people before Mag turns off to Lidl while I carry on along the prom spotting two seals just past the pier. The usual, Fludgers, Wireless Green and down onto the prom, past The Dip and golf course before reaching Felixstowe Ferry. I quick walk around the boat yard for a few pics before taking the sea road back home as a huge Mearsk container head slowly out in the gloom! A welcome cuppa with some yummy freshly baked bouts is very welcome:) Looking like we might get some wind from Thursday even though the river tides are not great!

PS - got one of today's gloomy pics on BBC's Look East weather tonight:)
